Samsung claims<\/a> that the UK economy is losing \u00a39.25 billion a year because consumers and businesses are not making the most of smart technology, such as smartphones and tablets.A Korean manufacturer who hopes to take advantage of this growing market, asked one thousand IT Expert and 2.5k members of the general public for its \u2018Smart Society Barometer\u2019 The results highlighted that there were a number of barriers impacting everyday use of the smart gadgets, mainly cost and a lack of skills.
\n\"samsung\u00a35.6 billion is estimated to be lost by UK businesses over the next 12 months<\/strong> unless adoption of Smart technology is accelerated within the work place. Samsung has claimed each firm could save an average of \u00a381,000 if smart technology was rolled out in every department, but found that one in ten didn\u2019t have plans to implement it within the structure of the business.More than a quarter of businesses admitted to missing out on a contract or client because they didn\u2019t have the right equipment available. This increased 37% in the financial district and 41% telecoms<\/strong>. IT managers say only 11% of their budget is portioned to smart technology and 20% say the training of staff to use smart technology is far too time consuming to be justified.Samsung President Andy Griffiths said<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cAt Samsung, we understand that in order to help achieve this, we must play our part in educating businesses and consumers on unlocking the true potential that smart technology can bring to the UK.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The public tend to be more comfortable introducing smart technology into their personal life, but a quarter said a lack of understanding of the benefits had prevented them from splashing out. Just six percent said they had installed a smart meter, but almost two thirds said they planned to do so in the future.<\/p>\n

Previous Samsung research has indicated that the most popular forms of smart technology at present are connectivity apps such as Skype<\/a> and Smart TVs, although many had indicated they would be interested in smart appliances, security and utilities as well as wearable gadgets that could monitor their health.<\/p>\n
